Comment parler en d’autres termes de ce village de Flandre qui s’étiole au fil des jours, s’évanouit au bord de la mer du Nord, laissant ses habitants dans la plus grande confusion ? Le village doit laisser la place au port d’Anvers, grande entité mouvante et sans tête. Contre qui lutter ? Contre quoi lutter ? Alors, en silence, Doel s’efface.
Mon travail s’attarde sur l’opposition entre la déliquescence du bâti et la force vitale des hommes, femmes, enfants et animaux qui font encore vivre le village.
